Happy Jammers 2018!

Once again GLOBAL GAME JAM time arrived!
Happyland was there to jam! This year together with Andromahi Tyrou for the sound and as it turned out also in level design! We have developed a puzzle mobile game for which we are more than exhited!

Lesson Learned, Vol.5: What we know as a fact after all the jams we have been in, is the importance to open up to other developers! Keep the desktops and desks and notes open and even an empty chair to put next to yours and let people come and watch you work and invite you to exchange knowledge!

Delivery Star!

On 15 of December 2017 we participated in Labour Game Jam, held at Goethe Institut Athens and supported by the program Creative Europe. It was a different jam and a very interesting experience for which we had to explore our previous working experience. Marinos, remembered his college days, when he would ride his motorcycle all over Athens during university as a courier and he wanted to share his memories and make a game out of those days.

Before the jam we did some brainstorming and research and decided to create a delivery boy instead of a courier after realizing that it is not anymore just a part time job for far too many people. The idea was to explore a common occupation between the European countries, beginning with the Athenians and explore the similarities and the differences. We have many ideas but for now we are satisfied with this really fast prototype. We “borrowed” photos from #LabourGames | Visit our Photo Gallery

Lessons learned vol. 4:
a) Sometimes things just don’t work, so be happy with what you have. Marinos has a say “Just a Miracle per day” meaning we can’t always be as efficient as we would like, but it is ok.
b) Old stuff can work really good; with that said please enjoy an old synthesis of our dear friend Dimitris Papadopoulos, an excellent musician. So, remember to take good care of your files!!!

Prometheus and the Flames of Life

On July 7-8-9 we participated in the Prometheus Game Jam which was a competition-jam organized by the N.T.U.A. for its 180 anniversary and was held at Lavrion Technological Cultural Park. We Teamed up withΒ  Alex Koxaras of Origins of Audio & Theo O’ Neill Linakis who helped us with the sound. We developed a voxel art, puzzle adventure game, PROMETHEUS & the Flames of Life which was honored with the 1st Prize & a distinction for synthesis of elements.

Where the park is today used to be the mines of Lavrion and were reconstructed only recently, to be used for science, art and cultural events. People there, took really good care of us, making our stay comfortable. We stayed and worked inside the old buildings alongside 20 incredible teams on β€œPrometheus”. Our idea was based on the most famous Titan’s myth; the steal of fire from the Gods.

Lesson Learned vol.1:
Sometimes the obvious path is the correct pat. In the beginning we struggled to find an “impressive” approach of the theme but that was misleading us. Another lesson was that the third day of the Jam is always crazy, so please everyone remember to be nice to each other πŸ™‚ We also experienced how it feels when people like your game (and it rocks!!!)

(Also thanks to everyone for the beautiful photos!)
